Awkwafina is an American performer and actress. She began by releasing hilarious, intelligently composed lyrics in rap that dealt with questions of racial identity and sexuality. She then expanded her fans to Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese-Korean immigrants who resided in Forest Hills Queens. Her first experience with music came from the trumpet. After a classical and jazz education, she delved into hip-hop when she was an teen. In college, she studied the field of women's studies and journalism. Then, she even had a short time studying Mandarin at the University of Beijing. After graduation, her focus shift to music. In 2012, My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet hit and was included in her debut album Yellow Ranger. The other viral hit songs included queef track, and the witty NYC Bitche$ hometown tour. The last track was connected directly to Awkwafina's NYC travel guide, released in the year 2015. The resume of her included musicians and an author. She was now looking to expand her career into acting. In addition to early series, such Girl Code and Tawk - she appeared in movies Neighbors 2 Storks and Bad Rap. In the year 2018 she scored a number of breakthrough roles, such as Dude Ocean's Eight or Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she debuted her EP "In Fina We Trust".
